Embeddings of Compacta with Shape Dimension in the Trivial Range

چکیده
In this paper a loop condition is defined which generalizes the cellularity criterion and applies to compacta with nontrivial shape. It is shown that if A", fc E", n > 5, are compacta which satisfy this loop condition and whose shape classes include a space having dimension in the trivial range with respect to n, then Sh(A") = Sh( Y) is equivalent to E" — X « E" — Y. An application is given to compacta with the shape of a compact connected abelian topological group.

THE EXISTENCE OF n-SHAPE THEORY FOR ARBITRARY COMPACTA
Shape theory is an extension of homotopy theory which uses the idea of homotopy in its conception. By comparison, the theory of n-shape, which heretofore only has been defined for metrizable compacta, has as its basic notion that of n-homotopy instead of homotopy. We shall demonstrate that the theory of n-shape extends to the class of all Hausdorff compacta.
متن کاملCohomological Dimension of Markov Compacta
We rephrase Gromov’s definition of Markov compacta, introduce a subclass of Markov compacta defined by one building block and study cohomological dimensions of these compacta. We show that for a Markov compactum X, dimZ(p) X = dimQ X for all but finitely many primes p where Z(p) is the localization of Z at p. We construct Markov compacta of arbitrarily large dimension having dimQ X = 1 as well ...

Let $G$ be a graph with vertex set $V(G)$ and edge set $E(G)$, a vertex labeling $f : V(G)rightarrow mathbb{Z}_2$ induces an edge labeling $ f^{+} : E(G)rightarrow mathbb{Z}_2$ defined by $f^{+}(xy) = f(x) + f(y)$, for each edge $ xyin E(G)$. For each $i in mathbb{Z}_2$, let $ v_{f}(i)=|{u in V(G) : f(u) = i}|$ and $e_{f^+}(i)=|{xyin E(G) : f^{+}(xy) = i}|$. A vertex labeling $f$ of a graph $G...
متن کاملTopological Groups: Where to from Here?
This is an account of one man’s view of the current perspective of theory of topological groups. We survey some recent developments which are, from our viewpoint, indicative of the future directions, concentrating on actions of topological groups on compacta, embeddings of topological groups, free topological groups, and ‘massive’ groups (such as groups of homeomorphisms of compacta and groups ...
